After noting in the log on the MID server that it was an authentication issue with the lab.midserver account, I changed the password, deleted the keystore, and updated the config.xml. Finally, the MID server appeared in the list. However when I validated the MID server it went down and never came back up. I checked the log and once again there was an authentication issue. At that point I resigned to submit a case, because clearly this is not a situation where I didn't complete a task as directed. As I was starting the case I instead followed the virtual agent prompts to request a new instance. None were available, so it's currently building me one. I'm crossing my fingers that the issues present in the last three instances do not persist in this one.

Re-run the Discovery after checking:

  • MID Server is up

  • IP Range is reachable

  • Proper Discovery Credentials exist and are tested

Review logs under Discovery > Discovery Log – search for the IP and look for authentication or probe errors

@Balaji MR Were you ever able to get your issue resolved? I'm experiencing the exact same error with the '07: Reconfigure and Test Discovery Schedule using New Behavior' task, and have tried numerous things to solve, without success.

I'm hesitant to release the instance, as I think the issue might still exist after doing so.

What I find interesting is that the error message is reporting that it is testing against 198.51.12.119 but we're actually testing against 192.168.16.11 based on the course material.

Any other ideas from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks.

I ran into the same error and had to have Support mark that task Validated for me.  I even tried adding 198.51.12.119 to the discovery ranges to see what came back but it didn't work.

Thanks for the update, @Jon_Thrive. I also tried the same, without success. Guess I'll have to reach out to support.

@mdunwell

07: Reconfigure and Test Discovery Schedule using New Behavior - Tried with Windows only and wmi, but no success. Did raise a case with support, was told to learn and fix the errors, they can't help with labs.

I receive same error, it show wrong IP address during validation.

Tera Contributor

@Balaji MR I created a support case for the issue and did not accept the automated solution when prompted, which directed me to a support agent who was able to validate the task.

FYI, there is an 80% pass mark required for the tasks, so if you're able to get all the other tasks completed, you can move along without having that one validated.

Good luck!

Hello, I need a help.

I just enrolled my course with Discovery Fundamentals- Xanadu.

I requested an instance, and I clicked on request an instance, and then I opened it. It then immediately took me to my instance's login page without a waking up waiting. I then added login credentials, but it seems that its not working.

Please help me with a solution in this matter and thank you  so much!

Best regards,

Wildan

Can you help me with task- 04: Create Credentials. Windows credentials are not testing successfully and I am getting authentication failed message while SSH credentials is testing successfully. Below are the Windows credentials details-

Windows Credential:

Type: Windows Credentials

Name: Windows Servers

User name: itomadmin

Password: Disco2learn4fun@1!

Save and then Test the credential against: 192.168.16.11

Hello! I am having the same issue as BhupendraSN above. I am unable to authenticate with the Windows credentials in Module 4: Create Credentials. I have verified my MID Server is validated and the SSH credentials validate just fine.

Below are the credentials I am using from the course material:

Type: Windows Credentials

Name: Windows Servers

User name: itomadmin

Password: Disco2learn4fun@1!

Ran the test with the following values:

Tartget: 192.168.16.11

Port: 135

MID Server: windows_mid

EDIT: I ended up terminating my lab instance and requesting a new one and the Windows credential worked this time. @BhupendraSN I would try this if you are still having issues.

[Solution] / [Answer]

For anyone who has the same problem, where the authentication does not working. For me this solution is work:

0. I did terminate my instance several times according to other users suggestion but, unfortunately it doesn't work for me

1. Although the IP seems different on the Lab 3. instruction on the discovery results, but the mew credentials both for Windows Servers and Linux Servers will be valid if we use the instructions' provided IP.

I hope it helps!

Thanks~

These the steps I created:

When I tests it before saving it looks like it works but when running discovery I get the error.

Can we have the NowLearning URL for Discovery Simulator course?

It looks like you're trying to discover the IP of the router, not the MID IP.

Please double check your IP of the MID Server.

Hi @glenn_pinto  I am having difficulty with this :

Task: Create iTunes Discovery Pattern (Part 2) with Step 5 Set Version .

Step 5: Use the following information to set Version into the Version field.

  • Step Name: Set Version
  • Operation: [Use skills learned to determine correct entry]
  • Value:  [Use skills learned to determine correct entry]
  • Name: [Use skills learned to determine correct entry]

I enter the following :

Operation :Set Parameter Value

Value : $cmdb_ci_appl[1].version

Name : $cmdb_ci_appl[1].version

When I test it it returns the Version as 12.7.0.166 saying test Successful

However when I run discovery on 192.168.16.11  it does not populate the Version value . Can you assist me as to what I am doing wrong here , Thanks
