We launched ITOM-native synthetic monitoring in Yokohama with the ability to run checks from your ACC fleet to help ensure your most critical websites and API endpoints are available and responsive. In Q2 2025 we added the ability to run checks from your ServiceNow instance. This brought an added layer of assurance and resilience to your checks by running them from ServiceNow's world-class data centers. In the same release we added response time and response body checks, so that you can make sure that your resources are not only available, but performant and behaving the way that operations and service teams expect.
With the Zurich release, we're adding support for more monitor destinations and making some improvements to configuration workflow based on customer feedback.
Run Monitors Directly from MID Servers
You can now execute synthetic tests directly from your existing MID Server infrastructure! This means you can now run checks from any part of your ServiceNow architecture: MID Servers, ACC fleets, and your ServiceNow instance.
This change brings some major improvements for customers:
- Zero additional infrastructure: Leverage the MID Servers you already have deployed
- Lower TCO: Reduce operational overhead required by other synthetic monitoring tools by consolidating on existing ServiceNow infrastructure
For organizations that have invested in MID Server infrastructure you can literally go from zero to monitoring in minutes.
Streamlined Endpoint CI Creation
When you create a new synthetic monitor, you'll need to specify an HTTP endpoint that you want to run the checks against. If you're using Discovery or Service Mapping, you probably already have these endpoints defined as an HTTP Endpoint CI. What if you don't have an endpoint defined already?
Well, with this release, you can now create new endpoint records right from the "New Monitor" configuration! This is particularly valuable for greenfield deployments or organizations still building their configuration management practices.
Support Group Assignment
It's also super easy now to automatically assign new synthetic-generated alerts to specific support groups. This ensures:
- Alerts route automatically to the right teams
- Appropriate access controls for monitor management
- Clear ownership and accountability
When an endpoint fails at 2 AM, the alert goes directly to the team that owns it!
Getting Started
Synthetic Monitoring enhancements are available now as part of the Zurich release. You can download the app from the ServiceNow Store, and if you're already running MID Servers, you could have your first monitors running within the hour.
Check out the documentation for setup guides, or reach out to your account team to discuss your monitoring strategy.
