Application Service and relation to Windows Server / VM Ware Instance

Hi folks,

I guess a very basic question, but due to the large amount of documents I somehow not able to find a useful hint.

We want to model Business Applications / Application Services and relate them to the Infrastructure. The customers runs 95% of his Windows systems on VM Ware. So you have serveral ESX Hosts with VM Ware Instances.

Now my question, should I relate the Application Service to the Windows Server CI (in win_server) or is it more recommended to relate it to the VM Ware Machine Instance (vmware_instance). I would say to win_server CI and this is related to the VM Ware Machine Instance, but not 100% sure.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

here the answer for this particular case. Customer had a VMWare connect already, which brought in the VMWare Instances, but of course not the Windows Server. We first need to setup Discovery to get the Windows Servers which than will be related to the VMWare Instances.
