Is a Discovery license sufficient to register AWS Lambda in the CMDB? Or is a Service Mapping license also required?

Hi @masahironaka ,
Yes Discovery license is alone sufficient to discover AWS Lambda functions.
Discovery License:
ServiceNow Cloud Discovery (part of the Discovery license) can identify AWS resources such as EC2, RDS, S3, and Lambda functions. Once discovered, these resources can be populated into the CMDB with their attributes and relationships. This means a Discovery license alone is sufficient to register AWS Lambda in the CMDB.
Service Mapping License:
Service Mapping is a separate capability that builds end-to-end application service maps by tracing dependencies across infrastructure and applications. It is not required simply to register AWS Lambda functions in the CMDB. However, if you want to map Lambda functions into business services and understand their upstream/downstream dependencies, then a Service Mapping license is needed.

The AWS Lambda discovery feature within ServiceNow enables users to identify and map Lambda functions operating in their AWS cloud environment. This process involves updating the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store to facilitate horizontal and top-down discovery of these resources.
