AWS S3 Bucket CI item in ServiceNow CMDB

We are looking at storing AWS S3 bucket information in our CMDB and wanted to see if anyone had experience with mapping this item.

The two approaches that have been discussed so far.

1.) Create a Configuration Item just for the S3 bucket, and store various attributes in it (like owner, region, etc). Application CI's would have relationships created that link to this CI.

2.) Create an individual CI with a naming convention that reflects the application, the ci, and region that is being hosted.

We are leaning towards option 1.... but I am also curious if anyone has a third or fourth option that hasn't been mentioned.

Thanks in advance,
~Constantine

Constantine,

If you can hold on a bit with this:

We plan to release official OOTB S3 discovery pattern as part of service mapping content release.
This solution will be closer to option 1 you mentioned.

Stay tuned for updates from SN store.

By chance, will a new S3 cmdb bucket class be created as something that is a child / inherits from the "cmdb_ci_cloud_storage_account" class?

No, installing  service mapping gives 'Cloud Object Storage' class which extends 'Application' table. But both have relationship with configuration item, base configuration item table.
