Certificate Management - HTTPS Endpoint URL Discovery / Service Mapping

I recently reviewed the on-demand course for the Certificate Inventory & Management module.  

In the HTTPS Endpoint URL Discovery section, it mentions that relationships are created between application and certificate when Service Mapping is enabled. 

My question is -- if we DO NOT have Service Mapping enabled today, but choose to down the road -- will relationships be retroactively created on the HTTPS Endpoint URL Discovery?
