all experts,
suggestions please. We have a configuration item in our cmdb_ci table.
1. When I open a new incident and click on search to select CI , I able to select the CI from the list , but the selected CI is not getting displayed on the incident form.
But when I click the relations or bsm map icon next to the Configuration Item field on the incident screen , the CI that I selected is displayed.
it is only not visible on the Configuration Item field.
2. but when i try to filter all incidents where configuration item is not empty , it shows this incident record too , but the configuration item field value is not visible on screen on the incident form.
some process behind the scene is changing it from being visible on the configuration item field on the incident screen.
Anyone noticed similar behavior before. any ideas what could cause this from being visible on the incident screen ?

Hi Joan,
First of all, select a couple of other CIs and make sure that the value is appearing in the reference field. Since the bsm map is coming up, there is nothing wrong with the lookup. "Name" in the cmdb_ci table is what is comes up as the display value for the record, so go to the dictionary entry of this field in cmdb_ci and make sure that the 'Display' checkbox is checked for this field.
Thanks & Regards,
Hari

thanks Hari. that worked. But how to ensure that on BSM map , it displays the CI name and not ID?Is there any settings that needs to be modified on the BSM map. Because I get header on BSM as CI Type which is correct , but the content inside that box should show CI name so if its Windows server , then it should display the server name? thank you again
