CI Class Manager Managed By Group not being set

Hey guys,

I am trying to set the "Managed By Group" field for class "cmdb_ci_server" in CI Class Manager. When I manually create a CI the field remains empty. Is there another requirement that needs to be met for this to work? Perhaps the Managed By Group only works if the CI is created via Discovery.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi

to be honest prefilling of any fields in a CI class is rather unusual as you would always need to fill in real data.

In case you really want to set a default value, you also could configure that in the table configuration (not CI class manager). Then it should work.

Kind regards
Maik

I was just asking myself the same question when I found this post. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the subject. I can see that this was marked as helpful both from "ServiceNow" and from "Expert(s)", but in all honesty the reply does not answer the actual question of how "Managed By Group" is supposed to work.

Any update on this would really be interesting to read.

Kind regards

There is a scheduled job that runs daily (CSDM Data Sync) that syncs the data.  The field is not auto-filled out when a record is created/updated.  Just when this job runs.

Note: The Managed by group setting is applied only to the CIs that are not associated with a technical service offering.

The data does auto sync when a value is set in the Managed By Group field in the CI Class Manager.  So if you set this for the first time, or change it, then it will sync all existing records in the class.

The sync only applies to the specific class.  It does NOT apply to any extended classes.
