Hi all,
What is the difference between the Cloud Discovery( in cloud management module) vs Horizontal Discovery, and its advantages?
Thanks,

Hi Yogesh,
The Cloud discovery discovers all resource in the cloud. For example, Data Centers, Virtual Machines, images, load balancer, networks, storage volumes, availability zones, Security Groups, etc..,.
The horizontal discovery is used to discover the details about the a specific Virtual Machine, for example, which Operating System is running, what software is installed, hostname, IP address, Disk details, how much strogae allocated, etc.
The below documentations gives more insight about Cloud discovery and how to discover a specific Virtual machine in the cloud (Horizontal discovery)
Cloud discovery

Run cloud discovery
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/madrid-it-operations-management/page/product/discovery/task/run-cloud-discovery-disco.html
Please review the section "Run Discovery on virtual machines in your cloud" for discovering a Virtual Machine using Horizontal Discovery in the above document.

Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,
Thanks for the above explanation.
But in Horizontal Discovery we have Cloud Application Discover option, using this can i discover Cloud Resources like cloud discovery does?
My Actual requirement is, client need to discover cloud resources and they did not have cloud management plugin. So can we achieve this with Horizontal Discovery (Cloud Application Discover options).
Thanks

Hi Yogesh,
In this scenario, you can configure Service Account Cloud Discovery. No need of "Cloud Management" plugin, the enablement of Discovery plugin itself enough.
Service account cloud discovery finds all resources in an AWS or Azure service account, including all datacenters in the account. The discovery process launches the necessary patterns to find all resources in a service account. You launch this type of cloud discovery from the Service Account form and track the discovery in the Cloud API Trail.
In order to schedule "Service Account Cloud Discovery", please review the section "Discover cloud resources in a service account" in the below documentation.
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/madrid-it-operations-management/page/product/discovery/task/run-cloud-discovery-disco.html
Please open a Support Case using HI Service Portal if you need further assistance.
Regards,
Rajesh

Hi,
Discovery:
Get complete visibility into your on‑premise and cloud resources. Keep track of changes occurring within your on‑premise, cloud, and serverless infrastructure in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Set a strong foundation with accurate data and relationship views for ITSM change management, Software Asset Management, Customer Service Management, Security Operations, and more.
follow the below link will help you:
Cloud Discovery:
Cloud discovery finds resources in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure clouds, and then populates the CMDB with the relevant CIs and relationships. Cloud discovery also supports changes to your CIs based on AWS and Azure events.
Mark it as correct/helpful,if it helps.
Regrads,
Ragini
