Custom Pattern: Missing Relationship

Hi All,

Need your kind inputs/suggestions.

I have created a custom pattern for the "PDU" device by referring to Mr.Doug Video. I am able to  discover the PDU CIs with my custom pattern but the relationship is missing in the CI.

As per Doug Video, we are referencing the relationship table in one of the steps in Pattern. In Doug's video after he discovered the CI, I am able to see the relationship. but in my case relationships are not created.

Can anyone please guide me to overcome this issue..

Thanks,

Anitha.

Hi @Anitha17

Please verify the below things.

1. Just checked one of the OOTB such available relationships. Please try as below , refer the attached screenshot.

2. Relationships are often built automatically from classifiers, such as this example of a MySQL Server process classifier.  In this case, the mysql process is detected, a MySQL Instance type CI is created AND a relationship of "Runs on" is created from the mysql instance to its host

The types of relationships, CI's created, processes, detected varies by technology being detected & interrogated during a Discovery job. ... Hardware/Software/Apps.  There is much, much more to Discovery, this is just a quick example.  You may wish to consider attending a Discovery Fundamentals class that covers the primary aspects of Disco, CMDB, creating relationships, etc.

3, Reverify your pattern where you configure the relationship and validate the correct Table and relationship type is selected also you can debug the Pattern from Pattern Designer and validate the results.

Please mark Correct if it resolves your issue and also mark Helpful if it helps.

Hi @AJ-TechTrek

Thanks for the response. Again, I have checked my custom pattern, it works fine while doing the discovery. PDU CIs are getting created/updated but no relationships.

But as per Mr. Doug video guidance(link given below), in minute 57:50 minutes he is creating relationships reference for WAN device and valdiating .. as a result.. informations are populated in Network adapater class table.

But in my case i do the same for PDU device, but no information are populated in Network adapater. I knew i am missing some steps but unable to figure it out, it will be great if you guide me to overcome this issue.

Note: I like to thank Mr.Doug Schulze for this video and sharing his knowledge with everybody.

Thanks,

Anitha.

Hi @Anitha17,

Please verify the complete steps of your pattern, Also you should be careful while selecting the table for relationship as which table you used earlier in pattern that can be part of relationship.

Also you can open any another pattern and take the reference of it, You must you the debug mode of Pattern to test the complete result,.

Thanks
