Hello,
I'm seeking for guidance,
We are using Discovery to get some database servers, the problem/concern we have is that we are getting the instances or listeners (using Oracle as example) related directly to the server (AIX) but we don't see the database server classification for Oracle, or an application between the AIX server and the listeners,
Basically the Database admins want to see, AIX server -> Oracle application -> Oracle Instance in the dependany view,
Do you know why is excluding this middle Oracle application element?
Thanks in advance.

Miguel,
That would be correct, there is no concept of database server, you have a database instance that runs on a compute. Two separate and distinct CI's with no concept of a general "oracle application"..
now to be fair in a service model there could be a business application that supports a service, say Database services but that does not fit into a structural CMDB model. Clearly looks represented as it should and please welcome your DB Admins to the world of ITIL for me
Let me know if that helps or if I can provide additional understanding.

Doug, I fully understood the concept of the Application server as it pertains to java, Websphere, etc.. and how it differed depending on your lens. I just brought that topic up as you referenced the classification of a database server and how it might interfere with a different classification if web software was discovered on the server as well.
What about the updated example for databases? How are other companies representing this? I cannot be the only one looking for something like this? There are many converts from "the other side".

I hear ya, and how are others modeling this (outside whats oob)? I really dont have input there (they have been keeping me off the field and in the back with the dishes) but will look to the community here to provide suggestions how they are implementing and/or extending!

Hi,
I have been Working on Populating oracle Listeners , Issue here is Database People are trying to send 2 sections of 0/P(oradba & Oracle ) in 1 Output file , But for Some reason we are receiving 2 O/P files as Duplicates. They changed their Script and gave 2 Scripts to Populate one O/P in 1 O/P file (1 for oradba & 1 for Oracle).
Now we are receiving 4 O/P Files (2 for oradba and 2 for Oracle), From my End Created additional new Probe(Attached to Process Classifier) and attached new Sensor (Copy Paste from Previous Sensor) . Only 2 duplicate Listeners Records are getting Created in the Listener table. What Could be the Issue?

Hi All
Does ServiceNow database discovery also retrieve the list of database users?
Thanks
