Discover Now UI Action

Has anyone experienced an issue with the Discover Now UI action on the Computer class form? When I launch the UI action, I get the message, "Can't discover CI because this IP address is not found in any Discovery schedules". This could be the case since we are using range sets and IP subnets instead of specific IP addresses. As a test, I created a new schedule that had the IP address of the workstation listed as a Discovery Item IP. The same message was generated.

Thanks.

I've encountered the same issue. We are on Eureka and the MID server is 2016-01-15-1507. In this case this was a Windows server which had an IP address related to it and that the subnet it is contained within is part of a valid active schedule.

I trigger this by using the OOB Related Link 'Discover Now'

This appears to be a recent occurrence as we regular use the feature and it does not appear to affect all computer CI's.

The "Discover Now" UI Action link kicks off ALL Discovery Schedules which contain the IP Address of the related server.   If there are multiple IP Ranges/Sets contained therein, it will run them all.

I think the poster might be looking for a way to initiate something akin to a Quick Discovery via a similar UI Action.   I know I would be interested in this.   It would give technical support teams who don't have discovery access the ability to perform ad hoc discovery of CI's for which they have responsibility.

I would check out this post as it seems to be a perfect idea to build a process that can be leveraged in multiple processes and react like DiscoverNow.

Sorry to bring this post back to life, but couldn't find a more relevant one...

Our user segment of the network has DHCP leases that expire every couple hours if they are offline so I don't want it to discover based on the last IP it recorded but instead discover based on hostname, is there an easy way to call that from the related link instead of using the OOB "Discover Now" one that uses IP?

As all discovery, regardless of tool, uses IP Address, I should think you'd need to duplicate the UI Action for "Discover Now" but call an include script or something which can ping the hostname to get the current IP address or possibly use some kind of an orchestration to read the current IP address from DHCP
