Discovery Errors - Payload Processing / Check Output

Hi Everyone,

We have been starting to look at Discovery and while it's found a lot of our gear, there are a few things that have some errors I can't seem to troubleshoot easily. Here's an example during discovery of a switch:

Similar things are happening with our NetApp clusters - The "Discovery" log is fine, and you can see the details of the device being found and categorised, but when it comes to the "Check Output" set, it fails. We have also seen some errors such as "duplicate serial numbers" which seem pretty hard to troubleshoot as well, however this one doesn't really give us much information.

Where should I start looking for more in-depth details, and how could we troubleshoot?

Thanks a lot,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Since this is an Identifier issue, you can try with a new identifier rule for that particular class in CI Class manager.

Hi Vivek,

Thanks for your reply. I have tried changing the identifier rule in the CI Class Manager however this just causes the discovery to fail. Currently, the discovery is completing successfully, and the payloads (input and output) have no errors in them, it is just the very last step in the discovery log that fails.

When I look at the XML I can see all the details of the switch, the model, the IP, and all the relationships for the interfaces. I'm really not sure what's happening.

I have raised this issue in HI and will see what they come back with.

For everyone's information, this was raised as PRB1286427 by ServiceNow and is scheduled to be fixed in a future patch.

We can't fix them all ourselves, hey?

Out of curiousity, where do you see the PRBs?
