Discovery Experience with IBM Storage

Hi - Has anyone successfully used (CIM) discovery against the following SAN gear? Any experiences to share?

  • IBM V7000
  • IBM XIV
  • IBM SVC
  • IBM Flash 840

Have any idea how this error can be solved within IBM SVC Discovery ?


CIM Sensor error: CIM query `poolVolumes` not found in CIM Probe results.


--


And/Or why those error appears in SVC DIscovery - as i use superuser for SVC (local super user).


CIM_AllocatedFromStoragePool - Authentication failed.


CIM_ConcreteComponent - Authentication failed.


CIM_AllocatedFromStoragePool - Authentication failed.

My patience it's on the edge....


  I don't know how, or why - but i was able to discover inside a SVC Cluster all the pools, and inside one pool the volumes.....

I don't know why i cannot discover volumes inside the other pools....make no logic for me...



In Discovery logs it's full of errors/warnings. I don't know why discovery can't log in inside the pools.....

In ECC queue it's only a error...

Can you file an incident for this?   I'd really like to get support for IBM SVC's into the next release, but right now I can only look into this in my spare time (which is pretty much non-existent...)

Below error has been solved - as there was multiple entry defined for Probes and Sensors. I deleted all the duplicates and run another Discovery.


Error       Sensor error when processing <a href='ecc_queue.do?sys_id=0255456f0f010680bf51059ce1050e52'><u>CimProbe/10.x.x.x.</u></a>: The <a href='discovery_sensor.do?sys_id=0ebd50990f450a80bf51059ce1050eb8'>sensor</a>'s major version = 1 while its <a href='discovery_probes.do?sys_id=null'>related probe</a>'s major version =

Now we have the following error left, in Ecc Queue:
mid.server.xxxx_xxxdemo CimProbe SMI - Storage Server 10.x.x.x input error
CIM Sensor error: CIM query `fcPorts` not found in CIM Probe results.




and another 14 Issues in Discovery Log:

Below it's IBM CIM Guide for SVC (svc_bkmap_cimguidebk.pdf) - I think ServiceNow is not 100% prepared for IBM SVC and need some additional code/scripts/ in place...
