We are having trouble in our Discovery deployment, where Cisco switches are not identifying with the specific Model Number but instead only pulling the Series number. For example: Discovery is reading the device as a Cisco Catalyst 29xxStack with an OID of 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208, however the devices may actually be either a WS-C2960X-24PS-L or a WS-C2960X-48FPS-L. When we search the payload of these devices, neither the actual part name nor a corresponding OID is found---- the payload only contains the Cisco Catalyst 29xxStack and the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208.
If anyone is running Discovery with these types of Cisco switches, I am very interested to know how you are managing this. Thanks in advance.

Normally when I come across this we create a custom exploration probe to find the best OID that pulls back the model ID, very similar as you see we do in the Generic printer classifier to deal with HP models.

Just wondering if there is any changes to patterns that handle this now, or is this still the way to handle this?
