Discovery of Veritas NetBackup Appliances

Hi,

Has anyone managed to discover NetBackup appliances before?

We have a requirement to discover them for our CMDB but I'm drawing a blank.

Thanks,

Adam

I have discovered these over SSH and SNMP.

SSH works better for our purposes, returned more and required less configuring.

You'll need a credential which has root access and is configured to access the host shell instead of the NetBackup commands. I'm sure I'm stating that incorrectly, but I remember our admins not liking the level of access and them showing me that even for them they have to enter a bunch of commands before they are able to enter regular ol' linux commands.

We considered moving the devices to Network Appliance Hardware or even Mass Storage Device, but left it in Linux Server since it had the right details for us.

Hope that helps.

Hello,

We have configured SNMP V3 and tried to access Veritas NetBackup Appliance but not successful. Then we tried SSH and able to connect with device but getting error with “Unauthorize command by ServiceNow. Denying direct commands to system. exit status 13”. Can you please help us what are privilege's and access level need to provide to SSH account for successful discovery.

Thanks,

Raviteja.

Discovery can find NetApp servers, using either CIM probes or patterns. The use of patterns, allows you to perform native discovery of the NetApp server without the need to use SMIS server.

Question was about Veritas NetBackup   not   NetApp.

There's always something to learn from the Patterns, though this might be a stretch.
