Discovery on passive devices

Hi,
Are passive devices discovered by Servicenow discovery and if so how? (passive devices which are used for failover purposes). Also if two devices(active and passive) have same IP how can we differentiate active and passive devices that are discovered?

I mean the device is online but it switches if the one which is active goes down. Not sure if they are behind a VIP address and I need to confirm with the support team on that. Aren't the devices discoverable if they are behind a VIP address?

Yes. but maybe not in the IP range of the VIP or Load Balanced IP address. Your network engineers should be able to detail out what needs to be done and if they are like my network enginners, it will require a court order to setup security so you can discover them.
