We are running Discovery   Oracle Linux running as VMs on OVM servers, and unable to run dmidecode. the following error is returned:

# dmidecode 2.12

# No SMBIOS nor DMI entry point found, sorry

since there is no serial number being returned Discovery is creating multiple records of the same machines, with no host name.

Does discovery support these servers?   how would you pull the serial number, name, hardware info etc.?

please let me know, thanks.

If you just can't get the serial number, you can try reconfiguring identification to use different identifiers like MAC addresses.

Discovery identifiers

Legacy Discovery identifiers

Create or edit a CI identification rule
