Hello Everyone,
I see for doing the windows server discovery using JEA feature, we need to change default parameter of windows protocol from WMI to WinRM.
When I set it to WinRM, it no longer runs the WMI probes for any existing discovered servers, which means if we have to run discovery using JEA, we need to have dedicated MID server, is this understanding correct?
Regards,
HM

Yes, your understanding is correct. Here's a summary: - ServiceNow Discovery uses the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) protocol by default for Windows server discovery. - If you want to use the Just Enough Administration (JEA) feature, you need to change the default protocol from WMI to Windows Remote Management (WinRM). - Once you set it to WinRM, WMI probes will no longer run for any existing discovered servers. - Therefore, if you want to run discovery using JEA, you need to have a dedicated Management, Instrumentation, and Discovery (MID) server. - This is because a MID server can only use one protocol at a time for discovery. If you want to use both WMI and WinRM, you need to have separate MID servers for each protocol.
