Duplicate CI relationship is being created whenever discovery is run. For example when we run a discovery for a server, a Runs on::Runs relationship with db instance is created. When discovery is run again, another runs on relationship is being created, while discovery should ignore if the relationship already exists.
Please suggest if anybody faced such issue and what could be causing the duplicate relationship records each time discovery is running, how to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Hello @arunkaushik ,
It seems to be your issue is at the Identification Rules for the db instance your are mentioning. Once discovery runs, it sill go through IRE and use the Identification Rules for the CI class it just discovered to determine whether the discovered CI already exists in the CMDB or if it doesn't and a new one should be created. From what you described, potentially the Identification Rules set are not really uniquely identifying CI'd and causing discovery to create those duplicates. I would strongly recommend you to review them.
Please, mark my response as helpful in case it was.

Did you verify if there are any changes in IRE rules on the class level ? What Oliveira pointed could be the case. Also, try verify relationship steps in pattern as well! in case customization is done.

Relationship between a Server and Running DB Instance.
What DB Flavor you are referring here- Oracle, Sql Server, MySql, Hana Db, Mongo Db etc.
Please check if any of the DB instance has Process ID/Any Dynamic Attribute in IRE Rule .
Because of This totally a new CI will be created which is technically not Duplicate but by name It seems Duplicate.
Regards
RP

Hello Rahul,
I too have the similar issue . In our case we have the IRE rules as Name, TCP port & class. But still the Duplicate instances are getting created everytime disocvery runs over the host.
Please advice.
Regards,
Rashika
