I have a question about how the group attribute/field for roles differs from the list of roles that appear at the bottom of the group form page. I'm attaching two images so you can see what I'm talking about. So my question is, how are these different? And what is the effect of each on system access permissions?
In the current documentation for creating groups (http://wiki.servicenow.com/index.php?title=Creating_Groups) there's not even a reference to the roles field/attribute for groups. Am I missing it? I'd be glad to just get pointed to some documentation so I can read about it. Any help?

Is it a similar situation for group types? I read in the documentation that the group types had been replaced with dictionary overrides and that documentation is clearly marked as "Legacy".

I think that wiki article needs to be looked at. Group types still have lots of other uses, and really don't have anything to do with dictionary overrides.

Hmmmm.... That's a little disconcerting. Am I looking at the wrong thing possibly?

Maybe parts of it are legacy and parts aren't?

I just looked at the exact same article as you did and it's wrong. Group types are something that can (and should) be used for much more than just filtering groups for use with a specific table. Dictionary overrides do nothing at all to replace what they're used for.

I'm really glad you said that, because I was wondering how dictionary overrides had anything to do with group types, but what do I know, I'm a newb.
