Host Data Collection showing "Collection Failed" in ACC

Why the host data collection field is showing "Collection Failed" while status is still Up and Data collection is on in ACC agent table ?

Can anyone tell me what is the reason behind that and how to troubleshoot that.

Hi @shashankupa,

ACC Agent Status = Up only confirms that the Agent Client Collector is connected and communicating with the instance. It does not guarantee that Host Data Collection jobs are completing successfully.

If Host Data Collection = Collection Failed, common causes include:

  • ACC plugin/capability issue on the host
  • Credential or permission problems on the endpoint
  • Failure in a specific Host Data Collection job
  • Network/firewall restrictions preventing collection commands
  • ACC pattern/script execution errors
  • Insufficient OS privileges for the ACC service account

  1. Open the ACC Agent record and review:

    Host Data Collection Status
    Last Collection Time
    Collection Error Details
  2. Check:

All Connections > Agent Client Collector > Agent Health
  3. Review ECC Queue records for failures:

    ecc_queue
  4. Check ACC logs on the target host.
  5. Verify the required capabilities are installed and active on the agent.
  6. Review Discovery/Observability logs for the specific collection task that failed.

A host can remain Up while one or more collection tasks fail, resulting in Collection Failed status.

There are two errors showing -
1. Unable to download ACC plugin
2. Data collection encountered an error
What to do now ?
