How can I get the de-duplication task to complete? Still in progress

I had a de-duplication task, and remediated (with intention to delete the duplicate CI).
(2 ESX servers with same name / same serial#)
It has run through part of the de-duplication, but is stuck in "Work in Progress" and has not deleted the duplicate CI.
It shows:
Total number of relationships merged: 19
Total number of relationships deleted: 40
Do I need to manually close that de-duplication task, and manually mark the duplicate as "Retired" (or manually delete it)?
I'm not sure why it has stopped mid-way through.

If you did not get a specific failure due to access rights I would bet that you have a business rule that is getting triggered by the deletion and the business rule is either aborting the action or erroring out with an uncaught exception somewhere. I would review your business rules for anything that runs on Delete on CI tables and see if any of them might be the culprit.

We checked for any Business Rules, but didnt see any.
After 3 days, the De-Duplication task went into Pending state, with a note "Failing the remediation since it failed to complete in 3 days."
I tried to run it again, but it is still sitting in "Work in progress".
There are no more relationships showing on the old CI, but I wonder if some of the other related records
