How to categorize SNMP events before creating event rules?

Hi All,

We are receiving events from MID SNMP Trap Listener configurations.

Events are not following standard structure in the additional information. Can anyone help to understand how we can categorize the same before creating event rules?

Thank You!

Regards,
Ganesh

Hi @Ganeshm1

Normally, additional info comes with same data as description. Most of times, SNMP Traps, does not come with severity, or they are not totally clear about what is the severity. This depends on which SNMP traps are related.

Said this, you have to correctly map the level of error, or similar attribute, to our severity field, using Event Field Mapping.

If no severity is mapped, the event is created with state=Error.

Please refer to the doc https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/xanadu-it-operations-management/page/product/event-management/con... in order to configure event mapping fields.

Hope this helps!!!

Please mark correct, if it helped!!!

Kindest Regards,

Rodrigo Donnangelo
