How to remove a catalogue item from appearing in the search bar Recently Viewed

I have an Order Guide containing 7 catalogue items, I've changed the 'Visible elsewhere' and 'Visible on Bundles' settings to 'False'. This means if a user try's to search for an individual item then the catalogue items will not be visible and can only be accessed through the Order Guide.

Although this works, for some reason when I type one of the catalogue item into the search bar, it still appears as a 'Recently Viewed' option and can be selected. 

How can this be corrected so the individual catalogue item doesn't appear and can't be selected in the search bar?

This will automatically disappear since you aren't viewing them any more in that way, but it's something that is automatically populated based on the interaction with the records. This is not functionality we can access, I believe.
