Hi All,
As per customer requirement, we wanted to update the Windows OS-Servers pattern to populate system serial number from baseboard serial number for windows servers.
if we update this OOB Windows OS-Servers pattern, are these changes override during next ServiceNow version upgrade?
if override, what is the best way to update pattern?

Best practice would be to add an extension rather than overriding the OOB identification section. If you do override the OOB behaviour, it'll be treated as a customisation and create a skipped record if there is an update in the future from SN

If you change in identification section it will be override with new version or upgrade will be skipped.
Best Practise: Create a Extension section it won't override.

HI Kieran/Sk Chand Basha,
Thanks for your valuable response, we are using OOB 'Windows OS-server' pattern for windows server discovery.
Now it is giving first priority to retrieve and populate baseboard serial number for windows server.
However customer wants to update "system" serial number(win32_ComputerSystemProduct.IdentifiyingNumber) for windows server in CMDB, could you guys please share me the steps to create extension for override and populate with system serial number for windows servers?
Regard,
Pavan
