Is it feasible to map HTML with to the String field -??

I would like to confirm whether it is possible to copy the complete body of an inbound email to the Incident Description (OOB String field type) field when creating an Incident through Flow Designer.

The inbound email body contains both plain text and HTML tables, and the requirement is to preserve and populate the content in the Incident Description exactly as it appears in the email.

Could you please confirm if this is supported through Flow Designer? If not, what alternative solution would you recommend to ensure the original email content, including the table formatting, is accessible from the Incident?

Thanks in Advance!

that's correct, you can use inline f(x) script in your flow while setting the work notes field

Hi @Ankur Bawiskar ,

I am trying to do it by using flow designer, not by the inbound email actions, so do i need to write it additional script input then i can map it with Work note or direct option we have something to add, if yes can you suggest the syntax for that please.

Hello  @sameekshasa

  • No.
  • Body Text (body_text) field can be mapped to Incident's Short Description.
  • To avoid any additional customization, the Incident activity can be configured to show email details along with system property "glide.ui.activity.email_roles"  and/or custom relationship to show email as a related list.

Hi
You can try

  • Use the Inbound Email trigger.
  • In Create Record → Incident, map Description to the trigger’s Body Text data pill. ServiceNow’s inbound-email flow examples use this mapping. Check the destination field’s capacity for long emails.

Flow Designer can copy the inbound email’s text into Incident Description, but it cannot preserve HTML tables or the email’s exact visual formatting in that OOB String field.
