Hi Discovery Experts and Practitioneers,
I am new to Discovery and have just finished setting up a MID Server on a Windows Server EC2 instance in AWS which is validated, up and running in my PID. I would like to take my time to find out everything i can discover about this single device to gain knowledge on Pattern Designer. Then i will fire up other devices on AWS and do the same thing all over again.
I have successfully run Quick Discovery which found the Windows Server. I did this without enabling Credential-less Discovery by installing Nmap on my MID Server. I am confused because now i am asking myself how Quick Discovery was able to find said device without any credentials? It cannot be Credential-less Discovery since i have not yet installed Nmap to enable Credential-less Discovery.
Can someone guide me in the right direction here?
Thank you all in advance.

I found the solution in another forum. So the MID Server Service runs as a Local Service account (you set the Local Service Account up when installing the MID Server) and this allows you to discover the device the MID Server is running on. Credentials will still be required to discover other devices.
