Hello @Learner-in-Prog
Service Mapping is not required before implementing IT Asset Management (ITAM) in ServiceNow, but it can significantly enhance the effectiveness of your ITAM processes. Service Mapping helps you create a comprehensive map of your IT services and their dependencies, providing a clear picture of how different components interact.
It can be useful for ITAM in below ways:
1) It offers detailed insights into the relationships between assets, applications, and services, which can help in better managing and tracking asset.
2) By understanding the dependencies and connections, you can ensure more accurate asset records and avoid potential conflicts or issue.
3) With a clear map of dependencies, you can assess the impact of changes on your assets and services more effectively.
In short you can implement ITAM without Service Mapping, but integrating the two can lead to a more robust and efficient asset management strategy.
