Manual Data Loading for Server CI

Hi, 

 

We are in the process of analysing customer requiremnts to do the manual data loading for server CI. (preferred method is ImportSets)

The attributes/fields provided by the customer is analyzed by me and I came to know that there is a field called - Room, Rack, Rack No and I want to know what is the best practice - At the moment we do not have any out of box field in service now for server records. Can I create custom filed with u_room and use the Location - Reference Field for Room? Can I create a custom field with u_rack, u_rack_no and update the field values.

 

How other customers are handling these fields and use case is for tracking and inventory purpose

 

If you explain for the above attribute individually would be better

Hi @jagaswami30 

 

I would suggest use cmdb_ci_rack class to insert the above fields and make a relationship with server.
