Hello Community,
We have a requirement for building the Service Map with the Manual method and we do not have Discovery or Service Mapping turned on as for the current Service Map, we are dealing with limited number of CIs. Currently, We have built the Service Map with following approach -
1) Created the Application Services (cmdb_ci_service_auto) and then populated with the 'Manual Service' as a population method. We have added the CIs and populated the same while creating the Primary Application Services.
2) Now, when we view the Service Map from the 'View Map' UI action- we can observed the created Service Map where we are adding the CIs manually with the available option of adding CIs.
Based on this, I have two questions.
Questions -
1) Is it the right approach to deal with the Manual Service Map creations. Are there any downfalls of this approach ?
2) I have observed that within the Service Map, I cannot add the CIs from the 'Configuration Item' class (cmdb_ci) but can add other CIs from any other cmdb classess like windows server, hardware, etc. Is there any particular reason for restriction of adding the CIs with the class as 'Configuration Item'. I have checked the 'sa.mapping.user.manual.citype.blacklist' property within the instance but in that there is no restriction for adding the CIs from Configuration Item (cmdb_ci) class particularly.
Can you please answer these question if you have implemented the similar functionality?
Appreciating your time for reading.
Thanks and Regards,
Akshata.
