Manually adding a DNS Name record for a server in the CMDB

Hi, would anyone know how to correctly add a DNS Name record manually so it binds with the server record? I was able to create a record, but in the server record the DNS Names for CIs tab is blank. Looking at a DNS Name record -> the IP address record I can see it is linked to the server in the Configuration Item field. I suspect I need to know the Nic and Netmask to get this connection?
