Mid server stuck with validating state

Installed Mid Server in both Linux and Windows hosts. After successful installation and configuration. Status is Up in Midserver dashboard but when we validate, it is showing as Validating and not changing to Yes. I have followed the steps mentioned in the documentation. I have tried Restart, Upgrade MID server options but still it is at validating state. Appreciate your inputs to resolve this issue. Let me know for any further information.

Hi -- I dont' know if this is related to your issue.. but I've seen a lot of problems with MID server installs/upgraded in last couple months.  Then, I learned of this Advisory Bulletin (below)  Perhaps the issue you described is related?

Hope this helps...

Short Description

MID Server defect notification: Take action

MID server defect notification
Take action • February 2024

We have identified a defect that impacts MID servers installed through the Windows MSI installer between November 3, 2023, and February 9, 2024. During an instance upgrade, the MID server gets stuck in the validating and upgrading stage due to missing privileges, SeImpersonatePrivilege and SeCreateGlobalPrivilege, in the service.

if.....you have installed the MID server using the MSI installer during the affected time period, and therefore will be impacted when performing an instance upgrade.

Here’s what you can expect

  • Any MID servers installed through a Windows MSI installer between November 3, 2023, and February 9, 2024, will be missing the privileges SeImpersonatePrivilege and SeCreateGlobalPrivilege.
  • These missing privileges can be undetected until performing an instance upgrade, when the MID server gets stuck in the validating and upgrading stage.
  • Only MID servers installed through the Windows MSI installer during the affected time period are impacted.

Here’s what we need you to do

  • If you are planning an instance upgrade, or have started an instance upgrade, please follow the appropriate steps in the workaround section of KB1632761, based on your scenario.
  • Please review KB1632761 for additional details about this defect.

I am having the issue. Support guys asked me to follow the issue number two. I am not understanding what they mean there. From where to download the code? I do not see any download link. Do they mean copy and create a file and store somewhere on the machine. Then they asked create file with the following

"C:\ServiceNow\ServiceNow MID Server test 1\agent\","snc_mid_test_1","miduser","***"
"C:\ServiceNow\ServiceNow MID Server test 2\agent\","snc_mid_test_2","ServiceNowDomain.local\gMSAtest$",""

snc_mid_test_1 what is this is it the mid-server name? I do not find the file in the agent file.

The files you need are attached to the kb article.

Hope this helps?

Dave
