Operating System Field

Can anyone tell me why the Network Gear table doesn't have an Operating System Field?

I don't know why there is no Operating System Field for Network Gear (cmdb_ci_netgear).  But, by default, the Out-of-the-Box patterns will put the operating system information into the Description (short_description) field.

@richardbrounste have you solved this and if yes how? I think the descision is pretty bad and limits the value of the CMDB in my view or enforces customers to search for a different solution.

Hi @Robert P_ , have you solved this for your case and how you did it? I must admit I'm a bit annoyed as this limits the value of the entire discovery. We might get this out of the DNA Center (Cisco) in our case, but I would have expected this is pretty much standard.

I had a similar question when I was setting up my network. It turns out, a lot of network gear tables focus on hardware specs and features, leaving out the OS info. It's probably because many devices can run multiple OS versions or firmware updates over time.
