When the Email Accounts plugin is activated, a script runs that converts existing account information from email properties into account records in the new Email Account [sys_email_account] table. This script creates an outgoing SMTP account and an incoming POP3 account in the new table.



Things can go wrong if there is missing info in existing account information prior to activation of   Email Accounts plugin.



What version is your instance? There may a known issue.

2 How Email Accounts Work

When the Email Accounts plugin is activated, a script runs that converts existing account information from email properties into account records in the new Email Account [sys_email_account] table. This script creates an outgoing SMTP account and an incoming POP3 account in the new table. After the Email Accounts plugin is activated, the existing email properties for account configuration are not available. The properties removed by the Email Accounts plugin include Enable email sending (SMTP) and Enable email receiving (POP3). After the Email Accounts plugin is activated, email processing is controlled by the system properties glide.email.read.active and glide.email.smtp.active. If the Email - OAuth support for IMAP and SMTP plugin is activated, two additional sample accounts are created that demonstrate how to connect to GoogleMail via IMAP and SMTP using Open Authentication (OAuth). OAuth is supported but not required for IMAP configurations.




If you do not see a default POP3 account, but expect to see and use such an account, then you can refer to this KB to reprovision your Pop3 and SMTP accounts.

  1. Navigate to hi.service-now.com.

  2. Click Manage Instances.

  3. Hover over the name of the instance for which you want to request email reprovisioning, click Actions, and selectReprovision E-mail.

  4. [Optional] In Please select the Instance, change the specified instance.

  5. Click Submit.


The reprovisioning process should populate the required values, for the default POP3 account and also the default SMTP account, including the password which you do not know so cannot supply yourself.

I have requested for provisioning pop3 account.



Will update here once i get progress on this.



But still I wonder why do Email Accounts table have no accounts.
