2 How Email Accounts Work

When the Email Accounts plugin is activated, a script runs that converts existing account information from email properties into account records in the new Email Account [sys_email_account] table. This script creates an outgoing SMTP account and an incoming POP3 account in the new table.



Things can go wrong if there is missing info in existing account information prior to activation of   Email Accounts plugin.



What version is your instance? There may a known issue.

Hi Saleem,


This in what I see when I go to System Mailboxes-> Email Accounts-> New


So so far no cause for alarm!

However if I go to System Mailboxes-> Email Accounts


I see this:

If you do not see a default POP3 account, completed with username and password, then you can refer to this KB to reprovision your Pop3 and SMTP accounts.

  1. Navigate to hi.service-now.com.

  2. Click Manage Instances.

  3. Hover over the name of the instance for which you want to request email reprovisioning, click Actions, and select Reprovision E-mail.

  4. [Optional] In Please select the Instance, change the specified instance.

  5. Click Submit.

If reprovisioning does not work for you. I have a further question:


What version is your instance?

The Email Accounts plugin fails to create account records when email properties are missing.

This is fixed in Eureka Patch 7 and Fuji.

Hi Tony,



Thanks for the update.



On activating Email Accounts plugin, my Email Account table is empty, there are no default email accounts.



So I am trying to create email accounts.But I am not sure what are these Username and Password ?.



I am getting authentication error while checking pop3 connection. From where we will get these credentials?
