Hello,

We have started the discovery schedule since last 48-50 hours and it has stopped discovering devices and the discovery logs shows the message as 'No Result Returned From Probe', though initially it did discovered 245 devices. We have started running the discovery using a Single IP address which has a ton of subnets and we are using a single mid servers. Can anybody tell, why is it taking so long to complete the discovery and why is it not discovering new devices instead showing logs as "No Result Returned From Probe"?

Hello,

As per the answer from one of the ServiceNow employees:-

That is an irritating warning, isn't it?

It doesn't, in general, indicate any actual problem. There isn't a lot you can do about it, apart from write your probes to always produce some output.

Most of us just put up with it.

You can modify your probes to always generate some output.

If they are out of the box probes, we could probably complain and log a problem: this out of the box probe constantly returns no results. I probably should, but I'm afraid I've gotten used to ignoring this one.

Hey Saurav11,

Thanks for the reply, but I am still not clear how do I get the discovery completed? Is it because of the servicenow version that I'm using(San Diego - Patch 7)? I would really appreciate if you could provide some exact steps that I could follow to get the discovery completed/ discover all the IP ranges.

Implemented new discovery troubleshooting capability. With the new View Discovery Status and
Error permission, you can run the enhanced Show Discovery Progress action from IT Universe
Manager even without the Run Discovery and Integrations permission. This enables you to view
discovery progress of your CI in IT Universe Manager, and then you can verify if a CI data error is
caused by any discovery issue.   visit official site
