Service Availability

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to generate realtime results on Service Availability records instead of waiting for the daily system job to run?

Hi Phil,

Yesn’t. You can always manually execute the jobs for the reporting manually beforehand. However, this would still not really be “realtime availability” as all your reports (at least the oob ones) are tied to be measured on a by-day basis. So doing the reporting on availability in the middle of the day may lead to incorrect reporting numbers.

If your availability target is 90% this would be calculated as 24*360 / 90 as your daily availability target (in this case 96 minutes of downtime). If you have any outages today until now, these will be calculated against the 96 minutes (as the reporting is done on a day to day basis, not a real-time basis [NOTE: it’s also done for week-by-week & month-month]). So if you had an outage for 90 minutes today and it’s 6am in the morning, the reporting will show you, that you’ve hid your target today, even though you didn’t (yet).

So, yes, it is possible. But i wouldn’t recommend it. And the result you’d be getting won’t be accurate at all. The availability reports are record generated on the day to day basis and then linked to the service commitments & their service. Therefore, the reporting will always be limited to the smallest time-measurement possible - a day.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Fabian
