Service Mapping - Filter out particular Alerts from impacting the Service Instance

We have a requirement where we need to filter out certain Alerts from impacting the Service Instance. Is there a way to achieve this out of the box?

We're using Dynamic Mapping with Calculated Application Services.

Hi Buddy,

Yes — this is supported out of the box.

For Dynamic Mapping + Calculated Application Services, the best approach is:

• Use Alert Management Rules to suppress or downgrade alerts that should not impact the service. If the alert is filtered here, it will not affect the Service Instance.

• If the CI itself shouldn’t affect the service, use CI filters on the Calculated Application Service.

• If the alert is valid but too noisy, use Impact Policies to reduce or remove its health impact.

Rule of thumb:

• Don’t want the alert impacting the service → Alert Management Rule

• Don’t want the CI in the service → CAS CI Filter

• Alert is real but shouldn’t degrade health → Impact Policy

No customization needed.
