Service Mapping - Mapping Application in Citrix

Hi Community

We're currently trying to map an application in our Citrix environment.

We have the Host / Port / Icon Path and URL details for the XenApp or Presentation Server Entry Point.

The map we get is below but we're not getting the application. It's a windows application (written in VB6) that points to a SQL database. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi,

Windows application runs on which server?

Are you using traffic based discovery or not? You have to check connectivity between the server and the application

Thanks,
Ashutosh

Hi Ashutosh,

Thank you for the quick response. Traffic based discovery is selected. The application can be opened as a published application or through the desktop.

It seems to want to check HTTPS connectivity but that is not enabled on the servers, do you think that check can be disabled? It's displaying the delivery controllers but not the XenApp servers. The documentation says if this happens its because the icon path is wrong but we've tried many different values so do you think it's to due with the delivery controller discovery?

Thank you

Hi,

So you use that application as web based URL or in prime? You can create your own endpoints as well.

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/orlando-it-operations-management/page/product/service-mapping/tas...

One more thing to note is: You have to discover the server where the application runs as well. What kind of application is this.

have you tried putting this application service as a Entry point?

Thanks,
Ashutosh

From your Load Balancer shown above, right click on the Load Balancer Icon and add either of the following options manually to continue the traffic-based process: (Here we are assuming that your EntryPoint Type is the Citrix/XenApp presentation Server Endpoint)

1. Add a Connection: CI Type = "XenApp presentation Server Endpoint", then put in the IP address & Port of your Citrix Delivery Controller [port 80 or so] or your Storefront server [ for e.g Port 443] select the active VIP choice IP address and NOT the VIP IP itself if hosted on a vmware virtual cluster Node], then "Resume /Re-run Discovery" in Service Mapping of the application Service.

Confirm what the Topology looks like and if it contains your Citrix env components like [Storefront, Delivery Controllers, Director Servers, Domain Controllers and License Servers etc...)

2. Add a CI : CI Type = "Windows Server" , then add the hostname of the StoreFront Server(s) from your CMDB lookup list and then Resume /Re-RUn Discovery.

The above should get you some results....
