hi @MoinudeenA ,
Hi Moin,
Service Mapping is really helpful for both Change Owners and Change Managers because it gives them a clear view of the business service and all the infrastructure and application dependencies behind it.
For Change Owners:
- They can understand the impact of a proposed change before implementation by seeing all the dependent CIs and services.
- It helps them perform a more accurate risk assessment instead of relying on manual documentation.
- They can plan changes better and avoid unexpected outages by identifying upstream and downstream dependencies.
- They can also validate that all affected components are considered during change planning.
For Change Managers:
- They can use the service maps during change review and CAB discussions to better understand the business impact of a change.
- It helps identify high-risk changes based on service dependencies.
- They can spot potential conflicts when multiple changes affect the same business service.
- If an issue occurs after implementation, the service map makes it easier to identify the impacted services and coordinate recovery.
Overall, Service Mapping helps move from managing individual CIs to understanding the complete business service, leading to better impact analysis, improved risk assessment, and more successful change implementations.
