Is anyone experiencing issues with Discovery spiking the CPU usage to 100% on a VM?

When our server admin monitors the scans. he spots servers that will spike to 100%. It's not every server and doesn't last very long. He's called me out on CPU spikes that didn't occur during a scan, so I have cause to doubt some of what he says. I'm very interested in what other people are seeing regarding the CPU spikes.

I have not seen CPU spikes related to discovery, we did test fairly extensively and documented the discovery process before setting up schedules. Have you looked into Antivirus exclusions? Or does that server run processes that are unique to your environment?

Sounds like your server admin is grasping at straws trying to blame the easy target, Discovery. (They do that)

We run scans on over 1500 VMs, not seen an issue.

Keep comparing Discovery timing to his CPU peaks like you have been. It shows he is mistaken.

It is possible that Discovery could spike a server like that, but that's usually indicative that the server is either misconfigured in how it handles remote protocols or already near max capacity on other workload.

Our company has been running Discovery for 3 years now, and the only complaint I have had is around credential accounts and SSH vs. SNMP access to certain devices. I have never seen performance impact on devices.
