Hi ,

I am new to discovery and cmdb.

I am trying to understand how shazzam probe works.

Please give me understanding how shazzam probe works, what kind of data it gathers and purpose of shazzam probes.

Does Shazzam probe call recursively after calling different kind of probes in the ecc queue.

how shazzam probe works, what kind of data it gathers and purpose of shazzam probes---> Port scanning is the first step in the Discovery process. The Shazzam probe performs port scanning, regardless of whether you use patterns for horizontal discovery. Purpose of this Shazzam probe is to know what PORT Device is listening on - WMI 135 , SSH 22, 161 SNMP .

Does Shazzam probe call recursively--> Not recursively but it calls the MAX NO of IP which is defined in Discovery Schedule else 1000 which is default and Repetitively.

I hope you have a demo instance where you learn this. This is also called a port prob. It's like knocking on the door. if someone responds to the door, it means there is an active device. MID Server checkes if any port is open on the target IP. You can check the list of ports in the output message in the ECC queue. the response will be in the input message
