Hi experts -
I am trying to discover a NetApp device without the SMI-S server requirement. I am following the guidance provided here:
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/kingston-it-operations-management/page/product/discovery/concept/netapp-discovery.html
The NetApp is configured in 7-Mode and ONTAP version 8.1.4 P5. I've configured the SNMP communitity string and Basic Auth user credentials. The Basic Auth user has permissions as prescribed in the docs article. I've ensured that glide.discovery.sensors.netapp_native_7mode property is true.
When I run discovery on this device it starts classifying with SNMP and finds the name but then starts the UNIX classify and returns "SSH authentication or connection failure".
Am I missing a step to have it run the NetApp Storage 7-Mode discovery pattern?
Thanks for reading,
Dennis

Hi Daniel, I reviewed the docs on netapp patterns (below) and have a question on what gets discovered. Can you tell me if the vServers are discovered and populated?
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/kingston-it-operations-management/page/product/discovery/concept/netapp-discovery.html
Thanks,
Drew

Hi Drew,
yes, the vServers are the main CI of this pattern, in the documentation they are referred to as cmdb_ci_storage_server.
i understand this may seem confusing, so i'll check and see if we can make this doc page more informative.

Thanks for clarifying. Does the pattern discovery differentiate between a vServer and a physical netapp device (listing vservers as is virtual = true for example)?
From what I understand (which is little) from our storage team is we have two netapp appliance nodes in a cluster, which virtualize vservers with the resources available. Something like this:
nodes > cluster > SVMs > volumes > shares > DFS paths
thanks again.

Hi,
I am using NetApp patterns to discover my devices. But when we debug the issue i am getting an error which is related to hosting rules and relationships between IP address, cloud and Owned by field. Please see below:
Error:
CAN you please let us know what should be done here. I have debugged or went through all identification rules for Server class but not able to find any relationship between this classes.
Thanks,
Sneha V

hey,
most issues we've had with this pattern was solved in kingston patch 8, so if possible you can try upgrading. in any case, i suggest you open a HI incident because it's not easy determining the root cause of the issue just using the error log unfortunately.
