SSL certificate need for MID server

Hi All,

Is SSL certificate mandate for MID server. What if the mid server does not have SSL certificate.I understand communication between the ServiceNow Instance and the MID Server is encrypted using SSL and it is needed when communication occur over SSL.How could we decide the communication would be over SSL or not.Non availability of SSL certificate would cause any issue in discovery of devices/servers.

 Thanks.

Hi,

This is only mandatory if you want to have the communication over SSL.

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/orlando-servicenow-platform/page/product/mid-server/task/add-ssl-...

There is OOB certificate maintained by servicenow which facilitates communication using SSL. If you load custom SSL certificate then its your responsibility to maintain it and may reset java filed and cacerts.
