Hi @rishisingh
You cannot install Mid servers in your local PC/laptop.
You must have a VM with windows server installed.
Follow below Youtube video to install Windows server on Virtual box.

Hope this helps.

Requirement to install MID
To discover Windows-based servers, run Service Mapping patterns, or execute Orchestration commands on Windows devices, the MID Server must be installed on a Windows server. The MID Server supports these Windows operating systems, including virtual machines and 64-bit systems:

Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2019
Windows Server 2022

@rishisingh

you can simply install using the zip file.

I was able to install it on my Windows 11 machine.

Please follow the steps from docs

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this discussion. I appreciate the insights shared, which helped me better understand the issue. I also attempted to install the MID Server on my local PC, but I encountered the same error regarding the requirement for Windows Server 2012 or higher. Based on my experience and further research, here is my response:

  1. MID Server Installation Requirements
The MID Server is designed to run on Windows Server operating systems. Supported versions include Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022. Attempting to install it on a non-server operating system, such as Windows 10 or 11, will result in an error.
  2. Using the ZIP File for Installation
If the .msi installer does not work, you can use the ZIP file to manually configure the MID Server. Extract the ZIP file, configure the config.xml file with the required parameters (e.g., instance URL and credentials), and run the start.bat file to start the MID Server. Detailed instructions can be found in the official ServiceNow documentation:
    https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/utah-servicenow-platform/page/product/mid-server/task/t_SetUpMIDS...
  3. Installing on a Virtual Machine
If you do not have access to a Windows Server machine, you can set up a virtual machine (VM) with a supported Windows Server operating system. Tools like VirtualBox or VMware can be used for this purpose. A helpful guide for installing Windows Server 2022 on VirtualBox is available here:
    https://youtu.be/vrDdBUabCdE?si=fKKeXTtoz278HNy2
  4. Important Notes
    • The MID Server is not intended for installation on local PCs or laptops with non-server operating systems.
    • Ensure that the system meets the hardware and software requirements for the MID Server.
