On the Network equipment class there is a field called "type" that shows a dropdown for router and switch, but there are classes for router
and switch. Which one does discovery use? Can it use all three and if so will it set that dropdown?
Will the network equipment class be superseded by the other two?
We want to start using SNMP in the future and I would like to understand this variation before we begin our tests.
Thanks.

Ow, ok Kurt, looked over the field the first time, my apologies!
It's because the record has been added manually directly in the Network Gear table. Because the class is in that case Network Gear, you can make difference between the types of CI by setting the Device type field manually.
Discovery always will put a discovered router in the cmdb_ci_ip_router class. I've already did some discovery on these on a project at one of our customers, trust me

I have also queried the same. I have faced this for a long time and I did not know how to fix it, so I decide it to go Quickbooks help, they provide me the great solution, you can also go there for help.

Glad to be a part of this community. The basic difference between Network equipment, Switch & Router are:
Network Equipment are used to expand the size of LAN Whereas switch is used to segment a LAN into separate network. Now coming to Rputer it is used to filter & isolate traffic or segment of network traffic like switches.
If still anyone want more information related to Router then i would suggest to contact Netgear Support Number, to gathered information.

The topic you are discussing about the router is really good to see. I want to add something on that. Whenever you are facing this kind of problem then at first go with error code that is generated by the router. This is really a great approach. I want to it's looks similar to error code 51330. So if you want to solve it then you need to learn how to Fix Wii Error Code 51330 and I can assure you that you wil find out the best soltuion.
