We have many cameras deployed, most of which are IP based video cameras.
Is there an OOB CI table or category for IP video surveillance equipment? If not, should I extend a CI table? Or just create a new category in the CI accessory table?
What are your thoughts? Does anyone else have the need to keep track of Video Surveillance cameras (and the associated servers and switches) in their CMDB?

Hi Eric,
You can create your own class for particular set of equipment if it is not available OOB.

Right. What table would you extend? Network Gear seems like the best choice.

I would check what fields I require for my current table.
Then I will go for the existing table where I can find maximum of those already present. I will extend that table then.

Great advice! Just watched a video on this by Tony Fugere from Cloud Sherpas on this topic.
