Out of the box, the Product Model record has four values in the "Acquisition method" field (Both, Buy, Lease, Purchase). We are thinking of adding custom values to this field and setting some specific to our needs custom business rules. Does anyone know if doing so will break any of the out of the box functionality? Would appreciate any input on this topic. Thank you.

I have worked with Asset extensively and have not come across any built-in functionality associated with the values in this field. You should be fine to modify the list of values to meet your needs.
