Adding new fields to look at in global search

Is there a way to add a field to the global search that is not being indexed? Specifically, I added a search group for the HR application, but the Description field does not appear to be searched. Short desc, caller, etc etc all work as expected.

If it's a text field, it should be indexed (and searchable) unless intentionally excluded. If it's not, something's wrong. Since the HR table is a task extension, it should just work. This may warrant an Incident with Customer Support, to see if there's a known issue that might be affecting you.
